This book is part of my 2016 reading challenge!
I have waited a long time for this fourth book in The Land of Stories to come out and I was very excited to finally read it – or listen to it in this case. I choose to listen to this book because Chris Colfer is the one reading it and he does an awesome job.
The third book ended in a major cliffhanger and left the readers (me) shocked. I really did like the other three books, but this fourth book in this series didn’t quite live up to the expectations – maybe I had too much.
The story goes – The Masked Man is on the loose in the Land of Stories and he got a powerful magic potion that turns every book it touches into a portal. His plan is to collect an army of literature’s greatest villains. So the race through all the classical stories begins.
The plot is amazing and the idea even better, but it just don’t get much better than that. At first if feels like Colfer is rushing through all the classic stories and then it becomes very slow. The twins get stuck and so does the story unfortunately. The writing has its clichés but it’s still cute and good. I’m a bit disappointed, but I still want to finish this series and it is still worth reading if you like classical fairy tales with awesome twists.
