This book is part of my 2016 reading challenge!
Having read and really enjoyed Me before you I thought it was time for another novel by Jojo Moyes.
This is a fast, easy and fun little romance adventure. You have Jess, a single mom with two kids struggling through a life filled with nothing but hardship; a daughter who is a math genius and a Goth stepson who doesn’t fit in and is bullied.
When an opportunity comes along to make their life a little better Jess takes her both kids on a road trip with a stranger, Ed.
The novel shifts focus between the character’s point of view and Jojo really makes each character shine through. And that’s the best part in this novel – the characters. Although Jess was very annoying sometimes!
It’s not that I didn’t like the book, it’s just that it was a bit too predictable.
Another thing that worked well in this novel was that Jojo takes everyday situations and people and weaves a story around them.
This is a romance novel, so it has all the ingredients to be a typical romance novel. The writing is good and it’s an easy read.
