Wow! Just wow! I really can’t get over everything that happens in this book – a lot and I really mean A LOT of things happen and it’s great! I’m both shocked and really impressed with how much better this sequel is. I feel like the series has a deeper plot and that there is so much more to come. Continue reading →
I like Mindy Kaling, I found her to be very funny and that’s why I wanted to read her book. It’s not that I’m disappointed because i really didn’t have any expectations before reading this book it’s just that I found her to be predictable.
I am very happy that I decided to read this book and this series!
This is the story of the world most notorious assassin – the 18-year-old Celaena Sardothien. After serving a year hard labor in the salt mines of Endovier, she gets an offer by the crown prince Dorian – her freedom on one condition: she must act as his champion in a competition to find a new royal assassin. The only reason I gave this book two stars is because the writing is great, the story, however, isn’t!
I feel disappointed because I thought the plot sounded intriguing and I thought I would read a murder mystery. Instead, I got dialogue after dialogue! Continue reading →
Original book title: Percy Jackson and the Lightning Thief Author: Rick Riordan Publisher: Penguin UK Year of publication: 2010 Format: Audiobook Duration:10 h 0 min Language:English
I must admit I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I’ve seen the movie and I liked it though the book is better, surprise surprise 😉
The book is about the young boy Percy Jackson who finds out that he is a Half-Blood which means that his father is one of the Greek mythology’s Gods. He learns this in a very dramatic way and just when he finds out the truth about himself he gets accused of stealing Zeus master lightning bolt and he has to go on a quest to prove his innocence. Along the way he meets other characters from the Greek mythology and he has to overcome obstacles and villains.
Rick Riordan plays with different characters from the Greek mythology and applies them to modern era in an amusing way. If you already know the background of some mythological characters and their stories it becomes even more entertaining.
The similarities between this book and Harry Potter are striking, in a good way! If you like Harry Potter you will enjoy Percy Jackson.
I was so impressed by Gone Girl that I wanted to read more by Gillian Flynn. Sharp Objects is a dark story.
The protagonist, Camille is a complicated and troubled character and it was hard to connect with her as a reader. I couldn’t relate to her, but I was curious about her.
This is the first book of the wolves of Mercy Falls series by Maggie Stiefvater and I honestly didn’t have any expectations.. I was just curious about the story because it sounded interesting and the plot was intriguing. A girl. Grace, who falls in love with a wolf who turns out to be a boy, Sam… very interesting! I just finished Bitterblue which is the third book in the Graceling Realm series by Kristin Cashore. To be honest, I didn’t want to read this book because the second book in this series was very disappointing. But when I realize that this book was about Bitterblue, a character from the first book I got intrigued. Continue reading →
Original book title: Fire (Graceling Realm, #2) Author: Kristin Cashore Publisher: Storyside Year of publication: 2014 Format: Audiobook Duration: 12 h 24 min Language: Swedish
This is the second book in the Graceling series and I really liked the first book, but I didn’t like this one.
Where to start..first of all I didn’t like any of the characters in this book. The protagonist, Fire was supposed to be strong, independent and smart, but I found her to be weak, clumsy and annoying! Continue reading →
