This book is part of my 2016 reading challenge!
I had very high expectations when I started to read We Were Liars. All buzz about how great this book was made me yearn to read it! I fell completely and utterly in love with this book, but mostly with the writing. This is my first book by E. Lockhart so I didn’t know what to expect. I was surprised how much I loved her writing. Lockhart’s writing style is poetic and sometimes it felt like I was reading poems – it was beautiful! Her way of personify feelings was impressive. I can understand that the writing style may not be for everybody, but it really worked for me!
I don’t want to say much about the plot because in my opinion – the less you know the better. But briefly – this is about a group of friends that hang out on a private island every summer and then things happens.
The beginning is a bit confusing but little by little things clear and when you get the whole picture every confusing thing will make so much more sense. I will definitely re-read this book to see if I can get all the hidden clues that Lockhart have left throughout the story.
The only reason I didn’t give this book a five is because I thought the main character was a bit annoying.
This novel is full of mystery and twists. I highly recommend this book to people who like to read!
