What doesn’t kill you…

Here in Australia live some of the most dangerous animals in the world. Basically every living thing here can kill you, from the small animals to the really big ones. This country has more deadly snakes than any other country in the world but apparently the bees here pose more of a threat! Yeah, you’re not safe anywhere.

When you are in the water you have to watch out for the southern blue-lined octopus that apparently has the most toxic venoms on the planet. The box jellyfish is another thing in the water that can kill you. Their tentacles can reach up to three metres in length. The three most dangerous sharks in the world are the bull shark, tiger shark and the great white and of course you can find all three of them here in Australia.

But when it comes to sharks I’m not complaining because mosquitoes, hippos, deer, bees, jellyfish and cows kill more human each year than sharks. Let’s leave the water and move to land. Just in the backyard of our home you can find the red-back spiders that are among the most dangerous spiders in the world and of course you can only find it here in Australia. Still there is more death from allergic reaction to bee stings here. Knowing all this and waking up in the middle of the night with my pinkie all swollen will obviously cause panic. Let me start from the beginning.

I woke up in the middle of the night because my elbow was itching very badly and where I was scratching I felt a lump. I decided to go to the bathroom to see what it could be and that was when I saw my pinkie. It was swollen, red and I had lost sensibility so I obviously panicked. Not knowing what to do I decide to wake up my cousin. I told her I was sleeping and something must have bitten me and she obviously panicked as well. We drove in the middle of the night to the hospital but me being an overseas visitor it would cost me 115 dollars just to see a doctor and another 115 dollars if he/she needed to makes some tests. By that time I felt better and we decided to solder it out. We went home without any help or knowing what it was. We fell asleep in my cousin’s bed. The first thing my cousin does when she wakes up is to look at my pinkie (the love I have for you baby cousin). My pinkie wasn’t as swollen anymore and the sensibility was back. I still have no idea what caused it but that’s Australia for you.
